A vision of adolf lange

in 1845 Ferdinand Adolf Lange had a vision to create the highest quality timepieces and set up shop in Glashutte Germany. This vision would end with the nationalization of the brand after World War II

Some 40 years later, the vision was reborn by Walter Lange, late great-grandson of F.A.Lange. Walter brought forth the same desire to create the highest quality timepieces and cemented his family's name among horological legends.

Outsize Date

Lange achieved a groundbreaking feat by incorporating an outsize date display in a wristwatch for the first time. The date is presented within a gold frame, featuring numerals approximately three times larger than those found in watches of similar size. This innovation enhances legibility and streamlines the setting process, allowing for easy daily adjustments through a rapid-correction pusher, as opposed to the traditional crown adjustment. The Sempra Oprah clock was then inspired by this concept and displayed the hours in Roman numerals and minutes in Arabic numerals.

Hand Engraved Balance

Each Lange timepiece features a hand-engraved balance cock. Across multiple generations of Lange family watchmakers, the engravings on the balance cocks have consistently showcased a motif of flowers and petals.

The motif encircles the central screw, and a floral pattern intricately aligns with the distinctive contours of the respective component. Each engraving is unique, ensuring each A. Lange & Sohne timepiece is one of a kind.
